Schulze setzt im Kampf gegen Plastikmüll vor allem auf Recycling
Bundesumweltministerin Svenja Schulze (SPD) dringt in der Diskussion um die Eindämmung von Plastikmüll vor allem auf die Wiederverwertung. "Das allerwichtigste ist, dass wir Plastik recyceln können", sagte sie am Montag im "Morgenmagazin" der ARD. Es dürfe kein Plastik mehr eingesetzt werden, das nicht recycelt werde. Deutschland habe gute Recycling-Quoten und liege über dem EU-Durchschnitt, sagte Schulze. Nur müsse recyceltes Plastik in Deutschland auch eingesetzt werden.
Die Ministerin kündigte eine Qualitätsoffensive an - sie will "mit denen reden, die Plastik verwenden können". Nötig seien "wirklich geschlossene Kreisläufe" der Herstellung und Verwertung von Plastik. Schulze äußerte sich vor dem Hintergrund der EU-Strategie gegen Plastikmüll, die am Montagmittag von der Kommission vorgestellt wird. Berichten zufolge sieht das Maßnahmenpaket ein Verbot unter anderem von Plastikgeschirr, Strohhalmen und Plastikhalterungen für Luftballons vor. Außerdem sollen Plastikflaschen zu 90 Prozent recycelt werden.
Das Verbot von Einweg-Produkten sollen die Mitgliedstaaten selbst umsetzen. Schulze sagte dazu, sie finde den EU-Vorschlag "zu schwach": "Warum soll das jedes Land regeln - das können wir doch auch europaweit gemeinsam regeln", sagte sie in der ARD.
